Robert Garrett McClure, Sr.

July 5, 1915 ~ January 6, 1999
Robert G. McClure, Sr., 83, of 19 Chiles Avenue, Asheville, died Wednesday, January 6, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. McClure was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther McClure. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sallie Womack McClure and two sons, Robert G. McClure, Jr., and Charles A. McClure. He served in the Pacific Theater with the Army Air Corps during WW II and retired after 43 years from American Enka, where he was a cost accountant. He also worked for the Buncombe County Purchasing Department for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and of
the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Vera McClure; a granddaughter, Sally Waters of Asheville; a grandson, Gary McClure of Charlotte; a step-son, William Edgar Ray of Chapel Hill; a niece, Mrs. Harvey Haynes of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ron Crawford and the Rev. Gail Coulter officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn
Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church and
request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

i met my great- uncle Bob when i was a child, my grandmother was edna elizabeth adams and my mom is beverly June adams holcombe. i am looking for any info on my great-grandparents Luther and and his wife. i do not know her name. please e-mail me if anyone has any info on my heritage. thank you so much, sincerly, melinda gaddy wise
