Robert Lee Stewart

Robert Lee Stewart, 87, of Asheville, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Charles George VA Medical Center. Born in Mitchell County to the late Phillip and Bonnie McNeil Stewart, he was a branch manager for Mitchell Distributing Company, a road building machine company, and was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. Robert is survived by his wife, Mavis Hinson Stewart; two sons, Phillip Stewart of Wichita, KS and Steven Stewart of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter, Susan Stewart Celaya and her husband, M.S. Celaya, of Alpine, TX and one grandchild, Jonathan Celaya. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Billy King and Rev. Bill Snyder officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
