Roberta "Bobbie" Ayers, 76, of Sulphur Springs Rd., Asheville, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at StoneCreek Health and Rehab Center. A native of Erwin, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Sara Bowser Bird. Mrs. Ayers worked at Vance Elementary School. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Mrs. Ayers is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jacob Ayers; daughter Diane Watts and husband Lee; sons Gerald Ayers and wife Debra, and Daniel Ayers and wife Theresa; 7 grandchildren; and sisters Marie Cummings and Doris Kebe and husband Wayne. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery, with the Rev. Ricky McCarson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Pl, Ste. D320, Asheville, NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  5. I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Bobbie’s passing. I fondly remember our families camping together when we were kids. Aunt Bobbie was always so sweet. She will be welcomed in heaven by my mom and dad. Mom passed on April 21st. She always loved Aunt Bobbie. We can be comforted that they are in a beautiful place now, healthy, young and renewed with God. Peace and Love to you all.
