Rodney Dee Wilson, 57, of Arden, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Gibson Wilson. Rodney worked as a Shear Operator at Eaton and had been there since 1977. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and music. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Rodney is survived by his wife, Sharon Cole Wilson; one daughter, Amy Wilson of Mills River; three sisters, Teresa Parris of Canton, Arlene Broyles of Tampa, FL and Thomasine Wilson of Canton as well as one grandson, Jacob Wingate of Mills River. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Sam McLamb officiating. Burial will follow at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

You never met a stranger. You took me under your wing and made this former ‘yankee’ feel at home in the south. You introduced me to your love of Duke Basketball that I carry with me to this day. And I thought I was a good cook, my recipe book grew by leaps and bounds. You’ve got a friend and I will see you again one day.

One of my earliest memories was of him having the Westinghouse circle W shaved in each side of his hair – still makes me laugh when I think about that. He always took the time to stop by my desk and chat – most often about you, Sharon and Amy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time.

To the family of Rodney my thought and prayers are with you, i spent 22 yrs working with him at Eaton and can say he always had a big smile on his face and was always in a playing a joke on you mood. I can remember alot of afternoons spent at his house playing horse shoes and man was he competitive, Have not seen him since i left Eaton but thought of him everytime i picked up a horseshoe.May the Lord supply all the grace you guys need at this time.

  24. Rodney was a unique personality. He was always cheerful and laughing, and had the most precious gift of a genuinely good heart. We worked with Rodney and Sharon for years at Westinghouse, and had the pleasure of also being friends and neighbors with them. God bless you all in the loss of your loved one.
