Ronald Curtis McClure Sr., 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC.

A native of Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of the late J. D. McClure and Eva McClure.

Mr. McClure spent his entire youth in Henderson County. At the age of 9 years old, he gave his life to Jesus and was called to ministry at age 16. He graduated from East Henderson High School- Class of 1972. After high school he made his way to Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga,TN to pursue his degree in Biblical Studies and soon after received a Doctoral degree from Pensacola College in Pensacola, FL.

In the late 70s, Mr. McClure moved to St. Pauls, NC to start Friendship Baptist Church. The church was started in a store front with just 9 people. Soon after, they had to relocate to a larger building that could accommodate their growth. Mr. McClure pastored at Friendship for 10 years. In 1989, the McClure’s moved to Andrews, NC where Ron would pastor Valleytown Baptist Church for 20 years. Brother Ron was a soul winner, a preacher of the gospel, and loved to visit folks in need.

Ron loved International Ministries and served on the board of Frontier Baptist Missions for 15 years. A few of Ron’s hobbies were coon hunting, trout fishing, golfing, and mowing grass.

Mr. McClure is survived by his son, Ronald Curtis McClure Jr. (Curt) of Candler, NC(wife Cori); a daughter, Tamara Dills of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Brenda Niehoff, Darlene Stepp, Marsha Russ, a brother, Steve McClure (wife Becky), grandchildren Lawson and Knox McClure, Megan Ethan Barton, and a wife of 37 years, Beth McClure.

A Celebration of Life for Ron will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Biltmore Church – Hendersonville Campus, 103 Education Drive, Flat Rock, NC, 28731. A receiving of friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the church.

Flowers are appreciated, but for those who choose, memorial donations may be made to Biltmore Church’s Waynesville campus (biltmorechurch.com/waynesville).
