Ronald Everette Dillingham, 84, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 21, 2013.
He was preceded in death by the late Perry A. Dillingham, Sr., father, Olive J. Dillingham, mother and Clifford Dillingham, brother.
He retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Air Force after serving 21 years. He also retired from the US Post Office after 19 years. He was a member of Oakley United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always took care of his family.
Ronald is survived by his precious wife of 62 years, Theresa P. Dillingham. They have four children, daughters, Yvonne Taylor (married to Robert Taylor) & Cheryl Sumner (married to Lamar Sumner); sons, Roger Dillingham, David Dillingham (married to Renae Dillingham). There are 7 grandchildren, Rebecca Nix, Kim Young, Justin Bagwell, Jessica Sumner, Jillian Sumner, Hailey Hudgins, Heather Dillingham; 5 great grandchildren, Shelby Nix, Austin Shook, Colby Elkins, Amber Kirby, Kamm Ryder. Ronald's siblings are Hilda Gasperson, Kenny Dillingham, Sr., Perry Dillingham Jr. and Alfred (Skip) Dillingham.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 24, at 12:30 PM, at Oakley UMC, with Pastor Rich Schilling officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road.
Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
Memorials may be made to Oakley UMC, 607 Fairview Road, Asheville, NC, 28803.
Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the Dillingham family.
Ronald’s Family: Be of good cheer, for your loss is God’s gain! He was a good father, brother, and man. I also loved him very much.
