September 15, 1947 ~ March 24, 2020

Born in: Rutherford Co., NC
Resided in: Winter Haven, FL

Ronald Harold Jackson, 72, completed his earthly journey on March 24, 2020.

Born September 15, 1947, in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Raymond Hubert and Katherine McCrary Jackson.

Ron leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Jo Jackson of Winter Haven, FL and brothers, Larry Jenkins (Patti), Dale Jackson (Kathy), Bryan Jackson (Lisa), David Jackson (Lisa), and sister Kathy Higdon (Ron).

Ron also leaves behind seven children, Rob Jackson (Rene), Cindy Clampett (Monte), Ashlee Plemmons (Steve), Kristie Hamer (Jason), Gail Plemmons (Terry) Jimmy Lowe (Karen) and Gene Lowe (Kelly), 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ron was a graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville and served in the US Navy.

Ronald loved his family and uncompromisingly shared the Bible. He was a long time member of Biltmore Church of God in Asheville before moving to Florida as a member of Bartow Church of God.

As a youth, he loved animals, was a member of the 4-H Club and loved raising chickens. He enjoyed light carpentry and painting and later in life he loved all aspects of horticulture.

Most people will remember him for his laughter and love of jokes. If he could make you laugh, he gained a sense of accomplishment. He never ran out of laughter, and where time is not counted, never will.

He had an unending number of health issues and a lot of pain, but never questioned the God he loved. Maybe a few Democrats, but not God.

His son Rob recently noted, “Dad slipped from this world into a place he has been telling me about my entire life” Quite a goal we should all strive to reach.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. To the Jackson family I send my love, and prayers on the death of a very special person that was in my life for a long time. Memories made and lots of love in spending time with him and the Jackson family as a whole.
If God has chickens and dogs in heaven I pray Ron gets to see Dusty and Susie the Chicken. A memory that not only I but others remember Ron saying.
As the years have gone by, my memory has faded but the best thing I remember from Ron and his Jackson family was the love they had for each other and others. The laughter the jokes and the friendly making fun of were such a part of their lives.
God Blessed me with being part of that family and carrying on that part with my precious daughters, Amy and Bonnie. I can’t attend the burial but my spirit and love with be there.
God Bless you all with comfort and peace.
    Love, Beth Anne

  2. I am so heartbroken for Aunt Betty Jo and all the family…I know how much he was so loved by everyone…please find comfort in knowing he is forever healed and with Our Lord and Savior resting finally in His arms!!! Sending so many prayer’s for everyone, especially Aunt Betty Jo! I love you all! 😔😪🙏☝️😇❤🕯

  3. Ron and I graduated together at Reynolds High School in 1965. We had several classes together. I always remember Ron being a tall drink of water and how he carried himself with such honor and respect. We had some good times at Reynolds. Those are special memories. To Ron’s family and many friends my deepest sympathy in his passing. Gerry Huntley, Reynolds High School, Class of 1965. gerryh1947@yahoo.com

  4. I love my pop. He’s been a great dad to me and I’m going to miss him. His laughter and his jokes always cheered me up. Love you pop

  5. Jackson Family, It is with sadness that I read that Ron had passed away. I remember him as a student at Reynolds, a very nice young fellow that was kind to his fellow students and always had a smile on his face. My prayer is that God will grant the family peace, grace and comfort as they face life without him.
    Love in Christ,

  6. Sending many Hugs and Prayers to Betty and to all of his Children. I am with heavy heart ❤️ but I know he is now free of all of his illness and with his family who have already made it to heaven but he will truly be missed it. Ronald was a very kind and caring person with a loving heart. God speed cousin until we meet again. Love 💕 You

  7. Oh, my beloved cousin Ronald, aka “The Fruitman”. What a special light you brought into my world & the world of many others. How much more my life has been blessed to have had you in it! Till we meet again. To my family, I may be 2500 miles away but my love and hugs to you always.

  8. What a very sweet tribute to a fellow ACR Class of 65. I remember his height and the nice smile he had for most everyone. Nice to hear of his humor as I don’t remember that, but will encounter it when I next see him. Humor certainly overcomes many hard times.

  9. When we graduate from high school, we often times disconnect from class members. But those who are good people are not forgotten. I’ve thought of Ronald many times through the years, wondering how his life turned out. The account of his life only tells a small amount but speaks volumes. When I witnessed his life, Ronald conducted himself as gentleman every day. He enjoyed people and the laughter came easily. I am thankful that he stayed true to his foundation of faith and upbringing. May God bless all of you, giving hope of a final reunion, never to be separated again.
