Ronnie Eugene Sams, 41, of 187 Mink Farm Road, Leicester, died May 23, 2003.
A native of Buncombe County, he loved his children and enjoyed hiking, fishing and riding his horse, Clyde. He was a self-employed tree trimmer and was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Peek Sams, in 2001.
Survivors include his parents, Weaver and Bessie Sharpe Sams of Leicester; four daughters, Stacey and Becky Sams of New Jersey and Jesse and Jamie Sams of the home; three sisters, Brenda Ball of Marshall, Kaye Swann and Marsha Cole of Leicester; three brothers, Howard Sams of Asheville, Jerry Sams and Ricky Sams of Leicester and a grand-son, Yannis.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Shane Meadows officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
Flowers will be welcome or contributions may be made to the family to help the children c/o Bessie S. Sams, 71 Mink Farm Road, Leicester 28748.

To Ronnie’s family: I am very sorry for your loss. To Ronnie: Be happy now Ronnie you are at home with Donna. We will all miss you but you will live on through your girls. We love you.
To the family I’m so sorry for the lost of a son, brother and father. I know he will be missed by family and also friends, everytime we saw Ronnie at Marsha’s and Patrick’s he was always kidding and going on with everyone such a good person to be around.

Ronnie was a good friend. I enjoyed visiting him, he gladly showed his horse to my small daughter, we went on hunting trips. I will really miss him. May God give comfort to all Ronnies loved ones and rest to him.
