Roy Grady Ramsey, 72, of 31 Norman Dr., Asheville, died Friday, October 26, 2007, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late Jerome and Annie Mae Fortner Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Annie Ramsey, his son, R.G. Ramsey, and his grandson, Michael Sealy. Mr. Ramsey worked with the Asheville Housing Authority for 31 years, where he retired from as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid bowler. Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bennie Faye Ramey Ramsey; daughters, Barbara Kite, of Tennessee, Peggy Smolder, and Linda Ramsey, both of Leicester; sons, Troy Ramsey, of the home, and Roy Ramsey, Jr., of Asheville; grandchildren, Michelle Lee, Mary Melissa Roberts, Eric Lance, Cristy Streeter, Marie Dotson, Daniel Robinson, Tera Faye Ramsey, Kristen Ramsey, Kelly Calloway, and Jennifer Calloway; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ben, Olivia, Haley, Alexis, McCaela, Andrea, Emily, Clayton and Bryce. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Russell Gillespie and Steve Ellis officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials be made to the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
