Ruby Jewell Bishop

Ruby Jewell Bishop, 87, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Branch and Winnie West Bishop and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Mae Ingle and Belle Scruggs and a brother, Gordon Bishop.

Jewell worked for Winchester Spinning for 9 years and loved to be outside working in her flower and vegetable garden. She attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church

She is survived by two children, Gloria Daves of Arden and Earl Bishop and his wife, Elaine, of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Scott Graham (Kelly) of Candler, Jason Graham (Beth) of Fletcher, Geoff Bishop (Jaime) of Pisgah Forest, NC and Jennifer Smith (Dusty) of Mt. Holly, NC; seven great grandchildren and two nephews.

The family wants to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of CarePartners Solace Center and everyone who visited and prayed with the family. Also a special thanks to Charlie Graham, who thought of Jewell as his own Mom.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Mt. Gilead Cemetery on Brevard Road conducted by the Rev. Robert Ponder and the Rev. Scott Graham.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
