Ronald “Rusty” Lawrence Smith Jr., 54, of Fletcher passed away at his residence.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Ronald and Joyce Cox Smith. He was also preceded in death by one infant sister, Lisa Smith.
Rusty is survived by his wife of 16 years, Alice VanBlerck Smith; two daughters, Amber Capps (Justin) and Corky Wilmer (Billy); one son, Nicholas Smith; one sister, Belinda Allison (Ralph); four brothers, Tony Smith (Sandy), Randy Smith (Lisa), Dean Babin (Michelle) and Bo McWhirt; five grandchildren, Addison, Lemon, Bradley, Jackson and Hershel, as well as nieces and nephews, Christopher, Sarah, Amanda, Morgan, Tucker, Jessica and the late Bobby.
Rusty loved nature and the outdoors, especially time spent fishing and camping with family and friends. He will be forever remembered as a great man and a caring person with a heart of gold.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 09, 2020 at Green Hills Cemetery with Pastor Jesse Sours and Reverend Amanda Greene officiating.
