Ruth King Worley

Ruth King Worley, 89, of 3495 Asheville Highway, Pisgah Forest, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Worley was born in Buncombe County and was married to John W. Worley who died February 4, 2000. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Pisgah Forest for many years. She was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church in Sandy Mush. She is survived by her son, Max Worley and his wife Mary of Pisgah Forest; two grandsons, Michael Worley and his wife Rebecca and Keith Worley and his wife Millie; three great-grandsons, Chris, Jake and David Worley; two great-granddaughters Elisha Spears and Summer Worley; three great-great-grandchildren, Sarah Tucker, Maxwell Worley and Abigail Spears; and five step-great-grandchildren Patrick Smith, Benjamin Smith, Jeremy McCoy, Jordan Hall and Adrienne Hall. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. James Burress and Ralph Banning officiating. Burial will be at Paynes Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Paynes Chapel Cemetery Fund, in care of Louise Roberson, 3755 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, NC 28748. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
