Sara Watkins Partain, 90, died peacefully at her daughter's home on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Nina Russell Watkins and William Watkins. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Dallas, Texas which she considered home. She attended community college there and then went to work for the Bank of Dallas. After marrying the love of her life and having a daughter, she devoted herself to her family, but found a new passion for oil painting which she continued into her final days. Most important of all, she had an abiding faith in God and loved helping her husband in his ministry. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Reverend William Partain. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Partain Blalock and her husband Barry, and three grandchildren, Lucas David Blalock, Elizabeth Corinne Blalock, Zachary Nathan Blalock and his wife, Maya. A memorial service will be held at Skyland United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skyland United Methodist Church or to Asheville Buncombe County Meals on Wheels. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
