Sarah Phebe Cole, 94, of 36 Hookers Gap Road, walked through the gates of Heaven on Sunday, November 16, 2014.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Alexander Ownbey and Nancy Redmon Ownbey Shook and was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Cole, who died in 1991, brothers, Roy, Harold, Frank, Carl and David Ownbey and sister Ruth Ownbey.
Mrs. Cole was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and she retired from Mills Mfg. Co.
She is survived by daughters, Patsy Cole, Marie Clark (Bill) and Nancy Plemmons (Skip); son Morris Cole; grandchildren: Aaron Clark (Kathy), Tammy Sanders (Tres) and Eric Plemmons; great-grandchildren, Tristan Clark and Morgan Plemmons; special nephews, Curtis Ownbey (Lois) and Nathan Ownbey (Ellie); and niece, Bernice Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Flowers will be welcomed, or memorials may be made to Zion Hill Church Senior Adults, 1008 Newfound Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
Nancy and family, Please accept my condolences in the passing of your Mother. I lost my Mom in 2012 at the age of 96 and I think of her often. May God comfort you during this time of grief.

I remember Phebe as a very kind & sweet lady, and I’m sure she sent up lots of prayers for me. I hope and pray that we will all be reunited in Heaven one day. Prayers & thoughts are with you all.

Marie, (sister) I am so sorry to get to be with you all today. I can feel for you. Your Mom was always the sweetest woman I know. Her and Granny always had the best time together. I love You and Miss being there with You.
