Sharolyn Cartwright Curenton

sharolyn curenton

With deep love and gratitude for her life, the family of Sharolyn Cartwright Curenton, age 68, announces her passing on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in her hometown of Leicester, NC.

Born and raised in Leicester, Sharolyn lived a life rooted in faith, family, and community. A devoted Christian woman, she walked daily with the Lord, sharing kindness, encouragement, and love with everyone she met. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she reflected Christ’s light in both word and deed.

Sharolyn dedicated her career to teaching, where she touched countless lives with her patience, warmth, and passion for learning. For her, teaching was more than a profession, it was a calling. Her students remember her not only for the lessons she taught, but for how she made each child feel seen, valued, and loved.

Outside of her work, Sharolyn found joy in life’s simple but meaningful moments. She enjoyed tending her flower garden alongside her niece, Brilynn, baking the best cakes her family and friends will always remember, going on adventures with her dear friend, Roxanne, and sharing precious time with her niece, Elizabeth. These moments reflected her generous spirit and love for making memories with those closest to her.

Sharolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Curenton; her mother, Janet Bowman Cartwright; her father, William Allen Cartwright; her brother, David Allen Cartwright; and her sister, Fonda Cassada.

She is survived by her nieces, Tonya Cartwright, Pamela Williams, April Cartwright, Shanna Shelton (Bryson), and Elizabeth Kirkland (Brady); nephews, Blake Williams, Joseph Cartwright, and William Cartwright; her aunt, Nancy Randall; cousin, Shana Duncan and her husband Van; her special niece, Brilynn; and many other cherished loved ones and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, Corinth Baptist Church, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation. The funeral service, officiated by Issac Woody, will follow at 2:00 p.m. During the service, family and friends will be invited to share memories in remembrance of her remarkable life of faith, service, and love. Burial will then follow in the church cemetery.

Though her earthly journey has ended, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior, welcomed home with the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
