Shirley Ann Tate, 68, of Arden went to be with the Lord Monday, July 28, 2003. A native of Democrat, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ethel McMahan Carson and was also preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Louise Duncan. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, enjoyed baking and jigsaw and crossword puzzles and was retired from Ball Bros. Corporation on the inspection line. She is survived by two sons, Mark Daniel Tate of Hendersonville and Thomas Mitchell Tate and his wife Cindy of Weaverville; two brothers, James Carson and his wife Margaret and Frank Carson of Asheville; and two sisters Nora Lee Edwards of Asheville and Betty Jean Nallia of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren Austin and Michael and one great-grandchild, Tiffany Marie. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce funeral home with Pastor Stan Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00-8:30pm at the funeral home.
