Shirley B. Gentry

August 21, 1935 ~ March 31, 1999

Shirley Brooks Gentry, 63, of 16 Pond Road, Asheville, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Gentry was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late Charles Homer and Lydia Cowan Brooks, Sr. She was a member of Inanda Baptist Church and was married to William C. Gentry, who died in 1970.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Gentry and Susan Fender and her husband, Darrell, of Asheville; two sons, Ronnie Gentry of Asheville and Terry Gentry and his wife, Connie, of Candler; six grandchildren, Cody, Bill, Lee, Casey, Paul, and Jeremy; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Thad Dowdle and Cecil Fox officiating. Burial will be at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
