Arden – Shirley Pat Stackhouse, 84, of Arden, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Kokomo, IN she was a daughter of the late Clyde C. and Marita Thompson Smith.
Shirley was a retired registered nurse and a member of All Saints Anglican Church.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, David W. Stackhouse; one son, Stefan Stackhouse and his wife, Eunice of Black Mountain and one sister, Paula Kresge of Sebring, FL.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2010 in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery with Father William Martin officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Shirley's memory to CarePartners Health Services, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

I am so sorry for your loss. Pat was a beautiful lady. Paul and I enjoyed talking with you both. Most recently we have shared emails and I have enjoyed them. Paul passed away November 16th, 2009. Hi Dave, Was saddened to learn of Pat’s death last month. We’re in Labelle, FL for the winter and are getting the Democrat mailed to us. 60 years – that’s VERY good. We’d love to hear from you.
