Sona Marie Newman

Sona Marie Newman, 54, of Fairview, NC, entered Heaven’s gates Tuesday, December 29th, 2020.

Sona was born April 19th, 1966 and lived her entire life in Fairview. She is survived by her mother, Marie Violet Ketner of Fairview; her oldest brother, Ricky Lee Newman, of Asheville; and her youngest brother, Darryl Dewayne Newman and his wife, Begona Fernandez Newman, of Fairview; and sister-in-law, Lisa Newman of Fairivew.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her step-father, Harold Christ Ketner, who passed away in 2001, and her brother, Randy Kenneth Newman, who passed away in 2019.

Sona graduated from Reynolds High School in 1984 and continued her education at Western Carolina University before graduating from Blue Ridge Community with a degree in office management. She worked at Atlas Precision for 14 years. Her spare time was spent volunteering to help the handicapped and feeding the homeless. She attended and loved her church family at Fairview Baptist Church. Sona loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She also had a deep love for camping with her friends. Nothing made her happier than getting together with her friends, taking the camper and dogs and finding a place to relax and enjoy nature. She never met a stranger and was always the first one to tell you “I love you” followed by a hug.

Sona will be missed on this earth but she made Heaven her eternal home and looks forward to seeing you there.
