Susan Mash Oder

Susan Mash Oder, 77, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, after a brief illness at her home in Fairview, NC.

Mrs. Oder was born in Tallahassee, FL, to the late W.R. “Dick” Mash and Margaret Strickland Mash. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russel G. Oder, and their youngest son, David A. Oder.

Mrs. Oder loved working in her garden and could often be found hunting for and selling antiques and had a special love for vintage toys. She volunteered in the emergency department at Orange Park Hospital and in the community to help those in need. She worked at Health and Human Services (HRS) of the State of Florida for 37 years; 20 years as an administrator and finally as District Supervisor. Upon retirement Susan and Russel built a home in Fairview and have been a part of this community for 20 years. She volunteered at food banks around Asheville.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Mash; and her son, Michael S. Oder, daughter-in-law, Hannah Ashford, and granddaughter, Poppy Ashford.

The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, in the Tunnel Road chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends following the service.
