Susie Woody Caldwell, 83, of Leicester, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home.
A native of Buncombe Co., Susie was the daughter of the late Ulysses Roy and Geneva Ingle Woody. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ted Caldwell; brother, Neal Woody; and grandson, Alex Jarosz.
She worked for many years as a lab tech and then later owned and operated C&W Grocery with her brother.
Susie is survived by her son, Jeff Caldwell (Ashley Williams); granddaughter, Bradleigh Martin (Blake); and great-granddaughter, Copelyn Martin.
Her family expresses their thanks to Haywood Hospice, Dr. Gardner and the staff at Prime Health, Asheville, David Woody, Heleodoro Agustin Lopez, and to everyone who cared for Mrs. Caldwell and helped to make things easier for her family.
Her family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Ricky Townsend will officiate. Burial will then take place at Cross Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, in Marshall.
