Ted Fender, 79, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017. A native of Yancey County, he was born July 25, 1937. He was the son of the late Gaither and Rebecca Tipton Fender and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Harold and James Fender. Ted was a former employee of Biltmore Dairy and retired from Milkco Dairy. Mr. Fender is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye Banks Fender; four daughters, Angela Raines, Susan Stevens, Connie Morrison and Deborah Runyan; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Levi Fender of Leicester and Wayne Fender of Fletcher and a sister, Ima Jean Wilson of Fletcher. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of Susan Stevens, 1846 Brevard Road, Arden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eliada Home.

  6. To the family of Ted Fender; So sorry for your loss as he was a very fine man who I am going to miss so much. Please forgive me for not attending but I and still in the hospital were I have been for the last six months. Just remember that he is now with the lord where there is going to be a great family reunion and you will be able to be with him once again. May God bless and keep you in his loving grace for ever.
