Thomas Madison Fox, 62, of Fairview, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Harry William and Lucille Searcy Fox. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Fox.
Mr. Fox was a faithful employee of Carolina Tractor and Equipment for 38 years, where he retired as the shop foreman. He was also a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by one son, Daryl Fox and his wife, Paula of Arden; four sisters, Phyllis Earley and her husband, Frank, Betty Weiss and her husband, Gordon, Margaret Prewett and her husband, Lanny and Raye Bane and her husband, R.F.; one brother, Billy Fox; one step-grandson, Greg Parham, II and his wife, MaryAnn; one step great-grandson, Conner Parham; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Martha Wright.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Revs. Ed Worley and Ben Wilkerson officiating.
Interment will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at all other times will be at the home on Fox Road.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 435 Brush Creek Road, Fairview, NC 28730 or to one’s favorite charity.
To the family of Mr. Fox:
I didn’t know him personally, but he was such a nice man. Every once in a while he would come by the Chick-Fil-A that I work at and would always have that contagious smile on his face! My condolences to all. God bless
