Thomas "Tommy" Sterling Greenwood, of Arden, died unexpectedly from an illness on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of San Diego County, CA, he was a son of Brian J. and Carolyn Farr Greenwood.
Tommy was a 2000 graduate of Roberson High School and a 2004 graduate of UNCA. He was an Eagle Scout, passionate about his dogs, and for the past five years, worked as a video editor at WLOS.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Kevin Swain and his wife, Zayne, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

Tommy you were not only my loving devoted husband at one point, but for many years my Best Friend. You got me through so many things as I hope I did you. I will always love you never forget, and will dearly miss you ! Tommy was a great co-worker and I consider it an absolute privilege to call him a friend. During our short time together, I found him to be a truly warm soul. I miss him and will for a long time to come.
I went to school with Tommy. He was a genuinely kind person. My condolences to his family and friends.
I pray you will find comfort knowing Tommy touched each and everyone of us who watch the early news. From his work we know he deeply cared about the folks he worked with and those he served.
