Timothy Eugene Reid, 78, of Asheville, NC, passed away on July 19, 2025. A lifelong resident of Asheville, Tim was born on August 13, 1946, to the late Philip and Devisadero Reid. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Baker Reid.

Tim is survived by his beloved daughter, Melanie Reid Snelson (Brad). Melanie considered Tim the most loving and supportive father every day of her life. He’s survived by cherished grandchildren, Chesney, Savannah, Bradshaw, and True Snelson. He also leaves behind his sisters, Tobey Reid Livingstone (Joe) and Anne Reid Hunt (Peter), who will always remember his humor, kindness, and love for family.

Tim was a lifelong member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence and a devout Christian.

Tim began his career at the Asheville Citizen Times, where he found joy in meeting people and sharing their stories. He later worked as a sales associate at Leicester Flooring, where his warm personality and genuine interest in people continued to shine.

One of Tim’s favorite roles at the newspaper was reviewing plays at the Flat Rock Playhouse. A lifelong lover of theatre, he shared this passion with Barbara, with whom he enjoyed countless performances. For many years, Tim acted with the Montford Park Players in The Christmas Carol, playing the role of Mr. Fezziwig, the life of the party, whom he mirrored in life as the most joyful in the room.

Tim was rarely without a camera in hand. His love for photography was not only a personal passion but also a gift he shared with his family—his creative legacy lives on through them.

While he wore many hats throughout his life, his most treasured role was that of “Papa” to his precious grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. His grandchildren adored him and considered him the light of their lives.

He found happiness in reading, solving crosswords, and playing Scrabble. Other activities Tim enjoyed were attending local craft shows, cooking, and hosting family events.

Tim had a keen mind and was someone that could discuss any current issue. He was well-spoken and read. He was always learning and interested in the world around him.

Tim’s education began at Gibbons Hall, followed by Georgia Military Academy and Georgetown University.

Tim’s zest for life, love of storytelling, and devotion to family and friends will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
