Asheville Butterfly TrailMrs. Davenport was born in Celine, TN, was a daughter of the late Ephram S. and Nora Davis Dalton and was married to the late Cecil Davenport. She received a B.S. degree from Tennessee State Teachers College (now MTSU) and was a member of East Chestnut Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by two nieces, Sandell McCrary and Elnora Dalton, both of Murfreesboro, TN.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Sunday, October 1, 2000, at the East Chestnut Street Church of Chris with the Rev. Charles Freeman officiaitng. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
Good-Bye to a beautiful lady loved by many. Danny and I have been touched by her kindness and gentle spirit.
Mrs. Davenport was a precious neighbor and friend, who loved her Lord and her church. She will be missed by all who loved her. Mae Essick
Never a day goes by that I don’t think of Verda, a best friend. This many years later, I still miss her so much. She was quietly an inspiration. Sometimes quietness is louder than sound.
