Victoria Vela Mangum

Victoria V. Mangum, 77, of Round Oak Road, died Wednesday, January 12, 2000 in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Mangum was a native of Mexico, and wife of the late Harley S. Mangum who died in 1985.

She was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving as a Wave and was a former secretary for the Asheville Postmaster.

She is survived by two sons, David Mangum and his wife Doris of Hendersonville, NC, Harley Mangum and his wife Katherine of Fletcher; three sisters, Dodi Rodriguez, Carmen Langoria and Eva Heine; two brothers; Abraham and Hector Vela and two grandchildren, Kerry and Jacob Mangum.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church conducted by the Rev. Father Frank Cancro. Burial will follow in Lewis Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.

The familiy will be at their residences.
