VJ Honeycutt, 71, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2017, surrounded by his family.
VJ was born on September 5, 1945, to the late Melvin and Carrie Estella Honeycutt. He was the youngest of 10 and grew up with many of his nieces and nephews. Growing up in Woodfin, NC, VJ loved hunting and fishing. He was known to many of his friends by his CB radio handle "Green Door."
VJ and his wife of 25 years, Janice, created a beautiful, large and loving family with their 5 daughters: Kathy Lince (Jerry), Debbie Taylor (Ted), Brandi Clemmons (Adam), Jordan Taylor (Will) and Molly Jones (Andrew). One of VJ's proudest names to hold was Papaw to his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: John (Amanda), Jamie, Amber (Nick), Candice (Jordan), Paisley, Tate, Cayden, Rylan, Jace and Abel; Kylie, Collin, Carter and Ethan. He also has one surviving sister, Lillian Anderson (David).
The graveside service for Mr. Honeycutt will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Elk Mountain Community Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

Kathy and Debbie and family, So sorry for your loss, My Childhood memory is all of us at Fontana Lake on weekends camping, I can remember VJ singing to Kathy and Debbie at night in tent beside ours. He was a good man and will be missed dearly, especially by my dad (Jr. Duncan) My thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry for the loss of one of our sweet uncle VJ. Kathy, Debbie and family my heart breaks with you. But he has no more pain and suffering now. Praise God.. He’s up there with the rest of his sister’s , brothers. Mama. & Daddy. and most of all HIS LORD & SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. One day we will get to see him again in a brand new body. We love all of you.
