Walter Lewis Johnston

Arden ~ Walter Lewis Johnston, 81, of Glas View, Arden, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Johnston was the son of the late Walter and Stella Brittain Johnston. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Greta Faye Griffin Johnston and by one brother, Andy M. Johnston. Mr. Johnston worked as a farmer and was a member of Averys Creek United Methodist Church. He is survived by two nieces, Kay J. Roberts of Arden and Janice J. Consiglio of Port Orange, FL and two nephews, Isaac W. Johnston and Andy M. Johnston, both of Ormond Beach, FL. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Averys Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Brenda Newman officiating. Ike Johnston, Andy Johnston, Tim Roberts, Donnie Reid, Timmy Johnston, Sam Reneau and Lee Tissot will serve as active pallbearers and Randy Tissot, Alvin Hutchison and Maurice Herzberg will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 PM on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Averys Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery fund, 16 Fullam Road, Arden, NC 28704.
