  10. Mrs. Whitaker, Chris and Family:

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Wates. I remember growing up with him at Hayes & Hopson when he worked for my Grandfather – Max Hayes – and then for my Dad – Pete Garner. Wates taught me many business ethics that I still practice today.
I always enjoyed his stopping by my store in Fletcher just to say ‘hello’ or talk about the ‘old times’. We definitely had some stories to tell!
Wates was a man that I respected and admired, and I will miss him.
Please forgive my not attending the services, but I am down with the flu.
May the Lord give all of you peace at this difficult time.

  11. Wates’ Family, My late brother Lewis M. Clark and Wates were great friends and active in the Shrine together. Since our Mother was a Rickman and the Rickmans, Whitakers, Tranthams, from the Cane Creek, Fairview Area had inter married they thought they might be related. I remember Wates from his days at Hayes and Hopson. If my old memory is correct Christine you were my dental hygienist at one time with Dr. Horstman and Turner in Charlotte. We are never ready to lose our loved ones although Wates lived a long and full life. The only comfort comes from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends. We are thinking of you. Joe

  12. We are so sorry about the death of your father. We know you will miss him but just remember all the wonderful memories you have and keep them close to your heart.
