Asheville ~ Wayne Stroupe, 57, of Asheville, died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 in the VA Medical Center in Asheville. Born in Cherryville, North Carolina he was the son of the late James Caldwell Stroupe and Edith McGinnis Stroupe. He was a freelance graphic designer and a US Army Veteran. Mr. Stroupe was a member of the Terra Nova Center in Cedar Mountain, NC. He graduated from Tryon High School and attended Ringling School of Arts in Sarasota, FL before serving in the United States Army. Wayne was also an ordained minister and received his ordination through the Terra Nova Center. He is survived by his wife, Carol Barefoot Stroupe of Asheville; a sister, Nita Wright and husband Joel of Cherryville, NC; two brothers, Gary Foster and wife Emma of Atlanta and Bobby Stroupe and wife Renee` of Cherryville; son, Keith Stroupe of Gastonia; cousin, Libby Edwards of Stanley, NC and lifelong friends, Dale Patterson of Asheville and Larry Karriker of Kannapolis. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 14 at the Terra Nova Center in Cedar Mountain, NC with the Rev. Marian Starnes officiating. Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center, C/O Voluntary Services, General Post Fund 1000, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
