Weldon Gaddy

WELDON GADDY Weldon Gaddy, 88, a native of Buncombe Co., passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in Atlanta, GA, where he had resided for the last 57 years. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Gaddy retired as a computer operator from the U.S Postal Service in 1975. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. In his youth, he was a member of Mount Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Buckner Gaddy; two sons, Dr. Russell Gaddy and Ronnie Gaddy; two special granddaughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Steffen Mueller and Laura and Clifton Blackwell; three special great-grandchildren, Sophia, Abigail, Samuel, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Harry W. Gaddy of Asheville; sister, Lois Rogers of Madison, GA; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
