William Frederick Nadeau, 93, of Asheville, died on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the Western North Carolina Baptist Home. A native of Brockton, MA, Mr. Nadeau was the oldest of five children. Mr. Nadeau was a graduate of Tufts University, and worked as a chemist for the city of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1939 to 1945 as a medic during WWII. He loved gardening and nature. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Amelia Frances Nadeau; step-daughter, Carolyn Barcafer and husband Robert, of Asheville; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. Nadeau will be on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel, in Black Mountain. Interment will follow in the cemetery. The family thanks the staff of the Rickman Nursing Care Center for their care of Mr. Nadeau. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd. is assisting the family.
