William Holmes Price

Arden~ William Holmes Price, Sr. 88, of Avery’s Creek Road, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2004. Mr. Price was born in Jackson County, but spent most of his life in Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Albert and Minnie Chastain Price and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Anne Guilliams, Pearl McClellan and Amanda Holden and one brother, John Price. He was a member of the Words of Life Tabernacle in Arden, but also attended the Avery’s Creek F.W. Baptist Church during the illness of his wife. He retired from American Enka after 35 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mattie Rigdon Price of Arden; three daughters, Beverly Lorenz and husband Ray of Orlando, FL., Martha Moses and husband Paul of Candler and Betty Jean Allen and husband Cliff of Mars Hill; two sons, William Holmes Price, Jr. and wife Wanda of Mills River and A.R. Price and wife Kathryn of Arden; 12 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren; one sister, Reba Owens of Brevard and one brother, A.C. Price of Deer Island, Ore. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Bob Fox and Rev. Ed Krawcyzk officiating . Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
