William W. Palmer, 72, of 23 Old US Hwy 19-23, Candler, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Palmer a son of the late Verlin W. and Gladys Wilson Palmer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Arvella Buchanan Palmer, who died in 1995. Mr. Palmer retired as a maintenance foreman from BASF after 32 years of service. He was veteran of the US Navy. He enjoyed farming with his brother, Tommy. Mr. Palmer is survived by his daughter, Tammy Palmer, of Candler; son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Palmer, of Candler; sister, Linda Sue Herron, of Candler; brothers, Tommy and Charles Palmer, both of Candler; and grandchildren, Jonathan and Jared Palmer, and Anthony Palmer. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Steve Smith and Rick McCarson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

  8. Bill was a well-thought of young man in our class of ’54 at Candler High. Enjoyed seeing him at our 50th reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
