Winnifred (Winnie) Osbey Pickering passed away on 10/4/25. She was born on July 24, 1922 in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

In January 1945, she met Air Force pilot Capt. James Robert Pickering. After the war ended, they were married on November 21, 1945 at the Sioux City, Iowa Air Base. They moved to Lima, Peru, where he was a Panagra (Pan American Grace) commercial airline pilot. Their three children were born in Lima’s British American Clinic.

In 1954, Jim transferred back to the states when Panagra merged with Braniff International. After Jim’s retirement in 1978, they enjoyed traveling; visiting their family and friends In 2000, they moved to the Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community and were original Henry Hall residents. Here they made many friends and enjoyed all the activities offered. Winnie loved to play duplicate bridge and her two table duplicate club.

Jim passed in December 2012, her husband of 67 years. Surviving her are three children: Jimmy and wife Susan, of Dandridge, TN; brother Richard of Orange Beach, FL and sister, Marilyn Feaster of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her six grandchildren are: Brian Feaster and wife, Jenifer, of Framingham, Ma.; Kimberly McMahon Feaster of Irving, Texas; Chris and Jessica Pickering of Gainesville, Florida; Carly Pickering Snyder and husband Andy, of Lakeland, Florida; Brad Pickering of Helena, Al. and Rusty Pickering and wife Gina, of Vestavia Hills. Winnie also had nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the Grace Healthcare Chapel at 3 pm on November 15th, 2025. Rev. Richard Lindsley Walton will officiate. A reception will follow.

A private burial will be in the Deerfield Memorial Gardens prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Giles Chapel or the Deerfield Residency Fund.
