Zelma Mahaffey Glenn

April 21, 1907 ~ December 8, 1999
A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Lena Galyean Mahaffey and wife of the late George Curtis Glenn, who died in 1956. She was also preceded in death by two sons, George Daniel Glenn and Charles Inman.
Mrs. Glenn was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church and was a former employee of American Enka.
She is survived by two daughters, Billie Jo Dean of Arden, Freida Mae Armstrong of Conyers, GA; two sons, John Thomas Glenn of Dalton, GA, Eugene Woodfin Glenn of Arden; a sister, Sarah Ducker of Mills River; a brother, Daniel Mahaffey of Mills River; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Revs. Phillip A. Connell, Sr. and Randy Bray. Burial will be in Avery’s Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.
