From one of Hugh’s many lives made better: I think I was the only winner of the Hugh Himan Economics award. He was the person who most influenced my analytic passion. He taught me to challenge every assumption. He fueled my understanding of a “marxist” view not as an ideology but as an analyst. More than any other lesson — objective review against “the common thought” was a mantra I repeated. “Never start a book of consequence” without knowing the author’s bias was a pearl I kept with me for the almost 50 years since we met. He was my sobriety scout — and 27 years later — I owe my clear head to him. I was privileged to fill in for Brock at a couple golf tournaments and still have my Reems Creek member guest trophy. The world is a little less caring and little less objective today. I am missing something now, I had before. Love you man. daryl
