Doyle B. Reeves, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Reeves was born November 28, 1944, in Wilmington, NC, but had lived in Leicester for most of his life. He was a son of the late Wayne Reeves and Althea Lowe Brooks and was raised by his grandparents, the late Burnette and Noty Reeves. He had worked for American Enka, Leicester Supply and Magnavox, and most recently at the WNC Farmers Market.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Black Reeves; daughter, Sharon Reagan (Dennis Carson); son Tim Reeves (Anita Brank), and daughter Bridget Brown (Chris Brown); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Annalee Fowler of Fletcher and a brother, Robert Reeves of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam and Jim Reeves.

Graveside services will be Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Reeves will be taken to the residence at noon Friday where he will lie in repose.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sandy United Methodist Cemetery Fund.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  5. I am very sorry to hear about Doyle. My God Bless the Family. Doyle and I had a lot of good times together at Magnavox plus when I went by the Farmers Market I would go by and we would catch up on everything.

  8. Uncle Doyle was a great man. I will always remember the fond memories of our family Sunday picnics. Climbing on the tractor with trailer setting off into the woods looking for “Hog Heaven”. He always shared his love of cows with me. We would go to the field, while he threw feed out then let me pet them. I will cherish his sweet and kind personality for the rest of my days. Till we meet again.

  9. Doyle will be missed by everyone who knew him. His thoughtful kind nature stood out in his life. He loved his family. His blue eyes lit up when he talked about them. I visited him in the hospital. He was considerate of others even then with him very sick. May memories and love help you along the way in this difficult time. My love to you all.

    Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all. Known Doyle for a long time. Really special friend when we were young and growing up. We were on the Leicester Square Dance Team together and spent high school days enjoying life. May “The God of ALL Comfort” be with all of you now and in the coming days. Our thoughts, prayers, and love goes out to each of you.

  12. May the love and warmth of God’s touch comfort you all. Rest in peace Mr. Doyle Reeves you are missed by many but not forgotten. You’ve shone your light to many lives you’ve touched. May God rest your soul. To the Reeves family and friends may god comfort you. Tears are silent prayers to god, and even though there are many many shed, he is home in heaven where he will never get tired. He can run and run forever if he wanted. Funerals are just a way to put the flesh to rest, but his soul went home. This is his home going as my evangelical friend mr. George wright would say. Amen walls. Mr. Doyle Reeves, fly high sir. Rest high on that mountain, cause you made it home!

Funerals are just a way to put the flesh to rest. That’s not him lying there, he’s resting on that mountain over in jordan. Rest on that mountain Sir, your pain and troubles are over now. RIP

    My heart goes out to you during this very difficult time. Working with Doyle at the Farmers’ Market, he was always a joy to talk to and always had a smile on his face. He was one of my very favorite people. What a sweet friend. May the Lord be with you and give you the comfort that only He can give!
