Alphus Daniel "A.D." Stines, 88, of Candler, NC, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Stines was a son of the late Julius and Cora Daniels Stines. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Argie Parris Warren Stines, and by a brother, Bernice Stines.
Mr. Stines was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He retired from the NC DOT.
Surviving are his son, Dan Stines and his wife Teresa; daughter, Kathy Stines; several grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; stepson, David Warren; and step grandson, Chad Warren.
The funeral service for Mr. Stines will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel. Pastor Anson Johnson and Pastor Bill Wombough will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles George VA Hospital Hospice, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.

I am very saddened to hear this but I know he must be happy being with Argie again. May God lay his hands on his family that cared about him in their grieving period.
