Ada Barker Cole, 95, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at her home.

Mrs. Cole was born August 17, 1925, in Hickory to the late Reginald Duke Barker and Fannie Mae Hobgood Barker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Furman Edwin Cole and an infant daughter, Susan Annette Cole.

She was a graduate of Cecil’s Business College and a homemaker. She was a member of the Haw Creek Lions Club and a faithful member of Groce United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son; George Edwin Cole, a daughter; Ellen Annette Cole and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Groce United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gerald Davis and Andrea McCumber officiating. Masks will be required inside the church. Memorials may be made to the church at 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.

  2. Ada was a True Lady in every way! Ed is so happy you are once again at his side. Ada was so kind and sweet. I never heard an unkind word ever from her. Ada you have gained your wings so fly high, until we meet again!

  3. Ada was one of my favorite people at Groce UMC! She seemed to always have a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she met! George and family, you are all in our prayers. We know Ed and Ada are happily together again!
