Ada Stephenson Lindsay, 87, of Candler, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Garland P. Stephenson and Julia Wood Stephenson of Swain County. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Lindsay. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She always loved children, and taught Sunday School and VBS. She also babysat lots of children from the Candler community for 25 years. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Donald C. Lindsay; sons Tim and wife Marvelene and Keith and wife Crystal; step-children Jim Lindsay and Sharon Lindsay; grandchildren Tabitha Johnson and husband Dave, Cheyenne Jobe and husband Joshua, and Kellen Lindsay. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Thurman and the Rev. Steve Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to the Children's Program at Pole Creek Baptist Church, 96 Snow Hill Church Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

  8. I am so sorry for the loss of my grandfather’s wife. It’s a shame that my brother, my cousin, my father, nor I were mentioned. My father, Danny Lindsay – Donald’s eldest son – passed away in 2009.
