Adele Schmidt

Adele L. Schmidt, 95, of apartment 408 Givens Estates, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in the Sales Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Johann and Charlotte Louise Walter Raschert. Mrs. Schmidt was born, reared and educated in Columbus, OH, she was married in 1929 to Edwin C. Schmidt, also a Columbus, OH native. As business dictated she and her husband lived in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, New Wilmington, PA and Canton, OH before retiring to Florida in 1970. In 1982 they relocated to the Givens Estates Retirement Community in Asheville, NC. She was a member of the Skyland United Methodist Church, in Asheville. She is survived by two sons, Edwin Schmidt and wife Elyce of Chagrin Falls, OH and Richard Schmidt and wife Jean of Nags Head, NC; four grandchildren, Heidi L. Schmidt of Louisville, KY, Edwin J. Schmidt, Jr. of Aurora, OH, Ingrid Schmidt of Annapolis, MD, and Richard F. Schmidt, Jr., of Boston, MA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomas Coke Chapel at Givens Estates with the Rev. Joe Fulk officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, in Columbus, OH. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Supplemental Assistance Fund of Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
