Agnes Ford Strawther, 94, of the Battery Park Apartments, Asheville, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005.
Mrs. Strawther was a native of St. Mary’s County, MD, and was a daughter of the late John H. and Elizabeth Hill Hawkins. She was a former resident of Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA and was married
to the late Eugene Ford and Cassius Strawther. She was active at the Senior Opportunity Center and was a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America at the Basilica of St. Lawrence, D.M.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Ver. Rev. Wilbur N. Thomas at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Basilica of St. Lawrence. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
A Rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue after which her family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the St. Lawrence Altar Society, 97 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
Please accept our heartfelt condolances for the loss of Miss Agnes. The staff at The Laurels of GreenTree Ridge loved and enjoyed our brief time with her. She was a funny, feisty woman and we will feel the loss.
