Aldine Gearhart Higginbotham Jakubowski, 76, of 109 Harbor Road, Hendersonville, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Elizabeth House in Hendersonville.

Mrs. Jakubowski was a native of Brady, PA, and was a daughter of the late William Kay and Faye A. Potter.  She was also preceded in death by her previous husbands, James E. Gearhart, Sr., and the Rev. James B. Higginbotham, by a son, Timothy M. Gearhart, and by a sister, Genevieve Foster.  She was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Four Seasons Hospice.  She was also active with the Opportunity House Dance Club.

Mrs. Jakubowski is survived by her husband, Edward Jakubowski;  a daughter, Shirley Carter of Fletcher;  two sons, James Gearhart of Jacksonville, FL, and the Rev. Thomas M. Gearhart of Ogden, UT;  three step-daughters, Marsha Chase of West Palm Beach, FL, Joan Massler of Albany, GA, and Arlene Jakubowski-Maguire of Halesite, Long Island, NY;  a step-son, Mark J. Higginbotham of Gaffney;  a sister, Elsie Hudson of DuBois, PA, and fifteen grandchildren.

A memorial service will be  11:00 am Saturday at West Asheville Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas M. Gearhart officiating.  Private entombment will be at Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, PO Box 2395, Hendersonville, NC 28793-2395.

Her family will receive friends at West Asheville Baptist Church immediately following the service.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

    I was so sorry to hear of your mother’s death. She was a sweet lady. I had met her a few times when she visited Marge & Harry. You have been throught a lot but I know that you trust in the Lord, Who gives you strength. My mother and I will be praying for you.
