Arden- Alexander Henry Struck, 88, of Chestnut Ridge Road, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in a Hendersonville nursing facility. Alexander was born on November 29, 1914, in Lindenhurst, Long Island, New York to Jane McPhee Struck and Henry Struck. He graduated from Lindenhurst High School as valedictorian. Alexander received a four year scholarship from Colgate University with a degree in chemistry and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa (National Honor Society) and also received his Masters Degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He was recognized by Who’s Who as a distinguished citizen by the state of Connecticut in 1975. He was elected Vice President of the National Chemical Society in 1972. Alexander retired from Perkin Elmer Corporation in 1977 in Norwalk, CT. as chief mass spectroscopist. He moved to High Vista in May 1982. Surviving is his wife, Cornelia R. Struck; one son, Russell Struck and his wife, Alene of Basking Ridge, NJ; a granddaughter, Denise Struck of High Bridge, NJ and a grandson, James Rider and his wife, Orley Shacham of Summerville, MA. A memorial service will be held 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Charles Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

  2. Alex was a true, kind friend to us, and we loved him dearly. When Ralph became handicapped, Alex continued to treat him with affection and respect. He and Connie will always be in our hearts.
