Alice King Mitchell, 94, of 317 Riverview Drive, Asheville, died Saturday, June 14, 2008.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Wiley and Rachel Stines King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Mitchell, two sons, four sisters, and a grandson.
She is survived by two daughters, Sophia White and June Warren, both of Asheville; one son, Wilkie King of Morehead City, NC, one sister, Ruby Rice of Asheville; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Jones Valley Baptist Church.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Merck officiating. Interment will be at Jones Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Asheville Animal Shelter, 72 Lee's Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
