ALLAN STEWART JONES Fairview ~ Allan Stewart Jones, 84, of Fairview, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Johnny Jack and Carrie Fox Jones. Mr. Jones proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He served during World War II and sustained injuries which led to him being awarded a Purple Heart. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Emma Jones; one sister, Dorothy Wright of Fairview and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Cane Creek Cemetery with the Reverend Robert Earwood officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans’ Council. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
