Allen Leon Austin
October 8, 1932 ~ November 17, 1999
a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Bernice Sluder Austin of Asheville and the late R.G. Austin. He served in the US Navy from 1950
to 1953 and the US Army from 1954 to 1957. He was a retired employee of Johnson Auto Recycling and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Sally Ledford Austin; a daughter Stephanie R. Austin of the home; and a sister Mary E. Chason of Canton.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will
follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
