He was born January 2, 1937 in Candler, NC to the late Howard M. and Nell Moore Pinner. He recently retired from AKZO Salt Company where he had been manager of plants in Manistee, Mich. and St. Clair. Prior to joing AKZO in 1987, he was employed by Consolidated Aluminum, managing plants in Lake Charles, LA and St. Louis, MO. He was a graduate of NC State University in 1959. He was an avid gardener and antique collector and was a member of Hominy Baptist Church in Candler.
He is survived by his wife, June; a son, David Pinner and his wife Andrea of Zeeland, Mich; a granddaughter, Rebecca and a brother, Howard M. Pinner, Jr. of Black Mountain.
Services will be 2 pm Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue conducted by the Rev. Joe Yelton. Interment will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
